Dr. Jessica Neukam-Helms, PsyD, HSPP

You’re a high-achieving woman who’s juggling everything—career, family, self-care (or trying to), and you still somehow find time to wonder, “Why can’t I just get it together with food?” I get it, because that used to be me, too.
You excel in so many areas of your life, but when it comes to food and your body, it feels like an entirely different story. You’re smart, driven, and capable of solving problems, but no matter how hard you try, that relationship with food just keeps slipping out of control. You’ve tried every diet, made a million promises to yourself, and still, at the end of the day, you find yourself turning to food when you’re stressed, exhausted, or just plain fed up.
Sound familiar? You’re not alone—and you’re not failing.
Let’s Get Real
I help women like you break free from the exhausting cycle of emotional eating, bingeing, guilt, and body shame. You don’t need another diet (trust me, I’ve seen enough “quick fixes” to know that they only work for as long as you can avoid carbs). What you need is a real, lasting solution—a way to understand why food has such a hold on you and to make peace with your body without constantly obsessing over every meal.
And yes, I’m a licensed psychologist, but I’m also human. I’ve been where you are, feeling stuck and wondering why willpower works for everything else in life except around food. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping you stop this frustrating cycle.
A Fresh Approach to Therapy
You’re already overextended—you don’t need therapy to feel like another thing to do. I focus on creating a collaborative, authentic relationship where you and I can work together to uncover the root of what’s driving your eating patterns. We’ll dive into the deeper emotional stuff—like why you feel like you have to please everyone and why perfectionism has become your default mode. (Hint: It’s not because you’re “weak” or “bad” at sticking to a plan!)
I use an integrative approach, drawing from Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and humanistic processes. But here’s what you really need to know—therapy with me isn’t about ticking boxes or doing things perfectly. It’s about making real progress, one step at a time, in a way that fits your life. Oh, and it’s okay if you cry during sessions and laugh—sometimes even at the same time.

A Little More About Me
Beyond food and body image work, I help clients navigate all the big stuff—low self-esteem, relationship concerns, trauma, grief, and mood disorders. I especially love working with women who are juggling all the things—family, career, and health—while trying not to lose themselves in the process. It’s okay if you feel a little (or a lot) overwhelmed. Together, we’ll make space for you to thrive in all areas of your life—without the constant pressure to be everything to everyone.
I also provide psychological testing for adolescents and young adults, focusing on personality and emotional functioning, and I conduct evaluations for those going through the process of adopting a child.
I earned my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Indianapolis in 2014, my master’s degree in 2011, and my bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Evansville in 2009.
When I’m not working with clients, you can find me drinking coffee, reading psychological thrillers (the more twisted, the better!), pretending to be good at yoga and dancing, and doing my best to keep my plants alive. Oh, and probably also hanging out with my husband and two kiddos 😉
