The Finding Food and Body Freedom Formula
The Finding Food and Body Freedom Formula is for women who are done with yo-yo dieting and counting calories or macros. It is for women who are using food to soothe their negative feelings and push away the emotional discomfort that life brings. It is for women who feel out of control around food and are exhausted from constantly thinking about food. It is for women who feel guilty and ashamed of their bodies, avoid photographs and mirrors, and feel like there is something wrong with their current weight and body size.
I know you’re so frustrated and fed-up with worrying about your weight. It’s exhausting to constantly be thinking about what you “should or shouldn’t” be eating and what foods are “good” for you versus what foods will lead to weight gain on scale. The daily cycle of eating healthy during the day followed by eating “all the things” at night and then starting over again the next morning (or on a Monday!) seems never-ending.
The intensity of your emotions feels overwhelming, especially in the evening and at nighttime, and it just seems impossible to deal with them (hello chips or cookies!). The embarrassment and guilt you hold about your body also seems constant, and it feels like you would pretty much do anything to no longer feel out of control around food.
I know you want a simpler path toward achieving freedom and peace with both your body and with food. A path that doesn’t include….
…. having to restrict certain types of food and track calories or macros
…. having to engage in punitive exercise routines that you dread and can never maintain
…. fighting against food cravings and then finally giving in and then feelings loads of guilt about this decision
… diet pills or surgery or anything else that leads to other serious side effects
… weighing yourself daily or even weekly in order to make sure you’re doing “the right thing” with your food choices
You’re ready to move on past these old ways of dealing with your body and finally achieve long-lasting change that leaves your body feeling peaceful and aligned with your new mindset around food and the beliefs you now hold about it.
What is the Finding Food & Body Freedom Formula?
There’s A LOT of advice and information out there about how to take control of your eating and health. Eat this and not that. Work out an hour a day but don’t overexercise. Focus on building muscle but don’t forget the cardio. Don’t forget to each this amount of protein in each meal but don’t overeat the carbs. Weigh yourself for accountability but don’t weigh yourself excessively.
Ugh. I just got overwhelmed typing all that out.
Anyway, I’m going to tell you right now that the FFBF program has nothing to do with any of this. Because taking charge of your eating and health is NOT actually about the FOOD- it’s about your MINDSET and underlying limiting beliefs about the food and your body, as well as the emotions that have been pushed away and desperately need to be released. And this is exactly what we’re going to change for you!
With my FFBF program, you’re going to learn the key tools and techniques to shift your underlying beliefs about food and your body in order to achieve the following outcomes:
- Decrease endless food cravings
- Feel calm around food
- Savor and enjoy food without guilt
- Stop gaining weight
- Stop thinking about food all the time
- No longer feel ashamed of your body
- Decrease emotional and binge eating
- Understand what underlying triggers are prompting you to reach for food
- Learn how to eat mindfully
- Stop thinking about food as either “good or bad”
- Stop eating when you are full
- Work with your body’s natural cues for hunger and fullness instead of fighting these cues
- Break autopilot mindless eating behaviors
- Stop dieting and restricting food
- Enjoy your life without only using food for pleasure and reward
- Stop obsessing about whether it was a “good or bad’ day with food choices
- Learn how to deal with life’s stressors without automatically reaching for food
- Appreciate and respect your body
- Improve overall self-confidence and self-esteem
The Finding Food & Body Freedom Formula is a completely different way of thinking about food, health, and your body. Many women I work with come to me complaining about the endless cycle of “yo-yo” dieting (weight loss and then the inevitable weight gain + an additional 5-10 pounds). Traditional weight loss programs don’t work because they are ONLY trying to change your behaviors are food, and actually, these behavioral changes actually BACKFIRE, leading you to obsess even more about food. Medications (such as diet pills and GLP-1 injections) help take away the “food noise” (i.e., constant thoughts about food), which is much needed for many women. BUT, when the medications are stopped, the food thoughts come right back (in full force!), and the weight starts climbing back on at a quick pace.
Traditional ways of changing eating habits aren’t sustainable and lead to more weight GAIN in the long-term (fun fact- 95 to 98% of diets fail). But, I bet you already know these ways don’t work because if they did, then you wouldn’t be reading this document, about to embark on a whole new way of looking at food and your body. So, how is the FFBF program different than traditional methods….?
Who is Dr. Jessica Anyway…?
So glad you asked! One of the reasons why my program is so different than traditional methods of ending overeating is because of who I am and what I bring to the table (that’s a food joke, by the way!).
An Expert in Overeating and Binge Eating
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, and I’ve been in private practice for about 10 years now (with years of experience before that in community mental health centers and college counseling centers). Throughout these years, I’ve done multiple trainings and taken several courses on eating disorders and disordered eating, leading to me down this amazing path of specifically working with women who struggle with overeating, negative body thoughts, and feeling powerless around food. Most of my clients in private practice experience these concerns, and it has led me down a passionate path of empowering them, one woman at a time.
For the past 4 to 5 years, my private practice has been completely full (and I’m so grateful for that!), but I’ve struggled with feeling frustrated that I cannot reach more women to spread the word about how they can truly make changes in their overeating and emotional eating habits. So, I began to think about how I could work with multiple people at the same time instead of just 1 on 1. This led to taking my years of training, all the courses, my years of experiencing working 1 on 1 with my patients, and the disordered eating group curriculum I developed back in 2018 and putting together one kickass program that gives women EVERYTHING they need to completely shift their mindset AND behaviors around food.
The “Personal” Part
So, the methods I utilize in the FFBF program WORK because I’ve had hundreds of women test them out and succeed using these strategies. Another reason I know this program works? I’ve done it myself (although it wasn’t as “pretty”, structured or put together as the program I’m now inviting you to join!).
My food “issues” started in my early teens and lasted for about 10 years. During the first 5 years of that timeline, I ate and ate and ate (and ate…). I used food to cover up my feelings, to soothe myself, to isolate myself, and also to connect with others. I gained weight, started avoiding mirrors, pretended I was fine on the surface, and cried myself to sleep at night. I finally got fed up and decided to “lose weight so I could love myself!” (spoiler alert- didn’t work). But, man I had good intentions! I counted calories, tried all the top diets, researched appetite suppressants, and read weight loss blogs. It all worked fine for a week or even a month or two and then it always failed, leaving me to feel like an even bigger failure. As I entered young adulthood, something clicked, and I realized the real work needed to start within me instead of externally changing my eating behaviors.
I started to be honest with myself about my feelings, my history, and the unmet needs I had. I was still eating to soothe myself, but I began truly educating myself about disordered eating, which led to the discovery of intuitive eating. I dabbled with intuitive eating but lacked clarity and structure for exactly “how to eat intuitively” or exactly what to do when I wanted to cram cookies into my mouth (just “take a walk” wasn’t really enough for me to NOT eat those cookies). I realized I was CRAVING a plan and structure that I was previously trying to solve with strict diet and food rules, so I began to seek guidance on how to implement intuitive eating for overeaters and rework my beliefs around food and my body with a more focused model. I spent about 5 years “figuring it out” in terms of how to actually eat intuitively, what steps I needed to pursue, how to release emotions that were unprocessed and were leading to eating to soothe myself, etc. Those 5 years have now led to being able to spend the past 12 years of my life listening, honoring, and respecting my body with my food and exercise choices.
So, here we are- that’s my journey, and that’s why I’m here, extending you an invitation to join me in my world of food and body freedom where you don’t have to hate your body or obsess about food any longer. I’ve taken my personal and professional journey and have built a comprehensive, step-by-step curriculum that lays it all out there for you to find your own peace and freedom!
Are you a woman who overeats, feels out of control around food, and is uncomfortable in her body?
So if you just read my story above, and you found yourself nodding along, then it’s likely my journey resonates with you because of the pain that overeating and body image issues bring about. Any of this sound familiar?
I’m sick and tired of….
Gaining weight, feeling like a failure, hating my body, feeling unwell, obsessing about food, feeling guilty and ashamed, feeling out of control around food, going to bed defeated with my food choices, counting calories, only eating “healthy” foods, having to use “willpower” to avoid “unhealthy foods”, etc.
I’m scared that I’m going to ….
Keep gaining weight, negatively influence my kids, damage my relationships, have increased health issues, hate my body forever, never feel confident in my body, miss out on life’s opportunities because of my low self-esteem, always be obsessed with food, never learn how manage my emotions, feel tired and exhausted forever, etc.
If this sounds like you, then keep reading because I’m going to give you the details about the FFBF program!
What Will This Program Teach Me?
The Finding Food and Body Freedom program is a 10-week online program that you complete at your own pace. It includes 4 solid phases that build upon the previous ones:
Phase 1: Ditch Diet Culture.
Let’s get rid of those beliefs centered around food restriction, willpower, and deprivation. Diet mentality leads to guilt, frustration, overeating, AND weight gain (ugh- I know). We’re going to set the scene for creating new thoughts (and neural pathways in your brain!) to leave diet culture behind forever.
Phase 2: Learn the Steps for Attuned Eating
If you’re no longer dieting, what exactly is the new “eating plan”?? Well, it’s time to turn inward as I teach you exactly how to tune into your body. I’m going to teach you my 5 specific steps for how to engage in attuned eating so you can learn how to identify when you’re hungry, how to identify what you’re hungry for, how to end “good or bad” thinking with foods, how to let go of fear foods by eating them with joy and mindfulness, and how to put that fork down and walk away when you’re full and satiated instead of stuffed and miserable.
Phase 3: Decrease Emotional and Binge Eating
It’s time to actually learn about emotions, the purpose they serve, and how to stop avoiding them. Get step-by-step guidance (including a 2-page flow chart!) on exactly how to deal with uncomfortable emotions with multiple strategies, techniques, handouts, and resources. I’ll teach you about your internal system of “eating parts” that continue to drive your eating behaviors. This will help you finally start to understand and work with those parts of yourself instead of avoiding them, leaving you to stuff your face with food while also stuffing down your emotions. Lastly, I’m going to teach you how to release pent-up distressing emotions to shift your limiting beliefs around food and your body through tapping and emotional freedom techniques.
Phase 4: Work Toward Body Respect and Positivity
I’ll teach you how to examine the factors that have led to negative body talk and how to start changing that internal dialogue with multiple tools and techniques, including visualizing, decoding your negative body talk, cultivating self-compassion, etc. We’ll start working on finding ways to work with your body and respecting it versus shaming and dismissing it. We’ll also work on changing external, environmental factors that continue to negatively impact your feelings and beliefs about yourself and your body.
What All Do I Get With the Finding Food & Body Freedom Program?
Now that you know what you’re going to be learning, let’s talk logistics! Here’s what you get when you join the Finding Food & Body Freedom program:
10 Weeks of Training Videos
You get all 10 weeks of video trainings, as well as the notes, PowerPoint slides, handouts, and resources for each week. Specific strategies and Action Items are provided to keep you advancing in the program and to help you stay accountable to yourself. You receive lifetime access to these training videos and all materials, so you can revisit them as often as you like. Also- I know life gets busy and complicated and overwhelming, so I’ve built 2 BREAK weeks into the program (between Weeks 4 and 5 and then 7 and 8). These “catch up” weeks are meant for you to rest, continue working the steps of the program, rewatch videos if needed, etc.
Weekly Q&A Zoom Calls with Dr. Jessica
I host weekly group coaching calls with all program members once a week (totally optional!). This is your time to show up and get all your questions answered, troubleshoot and problem solve, work through blind spots or mindset issues, and brainstorm new ideas if feeling stuck. It’s also your place to get support and provide support to other program members. If you can’t attend a coaching call, no problem- all Zoom calls are recorded so replays are available. You’ll have access to these weekly Q&A calls for 6 months, even after your 10 weeks of video trainings are completed.
Private Facebook Support Community
As part of the Finding Food & Body Freedom program, you receive access to the “Inner Circle” Facebook group where only program members are invited to connect, ask questions, provide support, share success stories, and more. I’m in this group daily and answer questions here in between the Zoom coaching calls!
5 Individual Coaching Sessions with Dr. Jessica
For even more support and to ensure continued progress, you receive 5 private coaching sessions (45 minutes) with me where we can dive into any particular obstacles that are leading you to feel stuck. I’m with you every step of the way, and let’s use this time to truly accelerate your success!
The Finding Food & Body Freedom program does the thing that other program fail to do- it tackles the underlying issues. We tackle mindset (i.e., the thoughts and perceptions we have) issues so we can help release limiting beliefs about your body and food choices, and we learn how to release the emotions held in our bodies that are built up over time that are leading to the food choices you feel out of control with. You’ll also learn a non-diet, non-deprivation approach to making food choices and gain numerous strategies for long-term success, including building resilience, overcoming obstacles, and handling when things go off plan.
Here’s what some of my clients have said about their program experiences:
“I got myself exactly what I was craving yesterday for lunch, after denying it on Sunday. I was able to throw part of it away and not overeat. I’m feeling very positive overall, just taking my time and really letting it sink in. It’s such a huge mindset shift that’s hard, but great. I’m excited about the changes!”
“I’ve known how to eat healthy for a long time but couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t actually implement this knowledge. It wasn’t until I went through the first 7 weeks of the program that I realized I was missing a huge foundation before I could put my knowledge of healthy eating into actual practice. It is so much easier to make healthy choices when I’ve learned how to make peace with food first!”
“Having an actual flow chart of what to do when I want to emotionally eat is incredibly helpful- I keep that chart in my pantry and on my fridge and use it all the time! It takes the thinking out of it and allows me to focus on what I really need to be thinking about and reflecting on, which is meeting my actual needs versus hiding from my feelings”.
What’s Next?
If you’ve made it this far, I would imagine you’re still interested in joining this program (or you just have extra time on your hands and nothing else to read- that’s fine, too!). And I want you to know something very important. You are meant to live the life you crave; you deserve to live it because you’re worthy of it. Right now, in your current body, you are worth every step it takes to find food and body freedom. So, if you’re READY to finally let go of all the stuff that’s been holding you back and keeping you stuck with your eating habits and feeling defeated with your body, then The Finding Food & Body Freedom Formula is waiting for you. Just send me a message so we can find time to chat and get you started on your journey with me as your guide (if that’s what you choose to do- no pressure!)
